Parma Serie A 2024

Parma Relegated to Serie B After Serie A Decision

Parma Faces Relegation After Final Decision

Parma Calcio 1913, the historic Italian football club, has been officially relegated to Serie B, the Italian second division, after a final decision by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The decision comes after a long-running legal battle between Parma and the FIGC, which saw the club initially docked points for financial irregularities.

Parma's Financial Struggles

Parma has been facing financial difficulties for several years, and in 2015, the club was declared bankrupt. However, it was subsequently reformed and readmitted to Serie B in 2018. In 2020, Parma was promoted to Serie A, but the club's financial problems continued.

Points Deduction and Appeal

In December 2021, the FIGC docked Parma 5 points for failing to pay wages to its players on time. Parma appealed the decision, but the FIGC's Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the points deduction.

Relegation Confirmed

The CAS decision effectively sealed Parma's relegation to Serie B. The club finished the 2022-23 Serie A season in 20th place, with just 19 points from 38 games. The relegation marks a sad end to Parma's Serie A adventure, which lasted just two seasons.

Future Prospects?

Parma will now play in Serie B for the 2023-24 season. The club will be hoping to make a quick return to Serie A, but it will face stiff competition from other ambitious clubs in the second division.
