Fairtrade Fortnight Starts Today

Fairtrade Fortnight Starts Today!

Three decades supporting Fairtrade

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Fairtrade movement in the United Kingdom. From its humble beginnings in 1992, the movement has grown into a global force for good, helping to improve the lives of millions of farmers and workers in developing countries.

During Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from February 27th to March 12th, people across the United Kingdom will be coming together to celebrate the impact of Fairtrade and to raise awareness of the importance of ethical consumption.

What is Fairtrade?

Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade that seeks to address the injustices of the global trading system. Fairtrade certified products guarantee that farmers and workers have been paid a fair price for their goods, and that they have met certain social, economic, and environmental standards.

Fairtrade certification also helps to empower farmers and workers by giving them a voice in the decision-making process and by providing them with training and support.

The impact of Fairtrade

The Fairtrade movement has had a profound impact on the lives of millions of people around the world. Fairtrade certified farmers and workers have seen their incomes increase, their working conditions improve, and their communities develop.

Fairtrade has also helped to raise awareness of the challenges faced by farmers and workers in developing countries, and has encouraged consumers to think more carefully about the impact of their purchasing decisions.

How you can get involved

There are many ways to get involved in Fairtrade Fortnight. You can buy Fairtrade certified products, attend Fairtrade events, or donate to Fairtrade charities.

By supporting Fairtrade, you can help to create a more just and sustainable world.
