Garnarcho Scored Consolation for United
Manchester City have won the Community Shield after beating Manchester United 2-1 at the King Power Stadium. Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer scored the goals for City, with Alejandro Garnacho netting a late consolation for United.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a powerful header from a Kevin De Bruyne cross. Palmer doubled City's lead in the 58th minute with a fine individual goal, dribbling past two United defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
Garnacho pulled one back for United in the 85th minute with a low drive into the bottom corner. However, it was too little, too late for the Red Devils, who were second best for much of the match.
The victory gives City their first Community Shield since 2019 and extends their unbeaten run against United to four matches.
